Well, my friends, it's finally here - Election Day! PLEASE REMEMBER TO VOTE!
Thanks so much to all of you who have supported me in my bid effort for Iron County Commissioner. It has truly been a wonderful experience thus far. No matter what the results are tomorrow, I am a better person for becoming involved and reaching out to the wonderful people of Iron County.
During my daughter's graduation ceremony from Girl's State on June 12, a quote was read that truly sums up why I am the right choice for Iron County Commissioner. It reads: If your actions inspire others to learn more, dream more, do more, or become more, you are a leader.
This definition rings true with me, thanks to my parents' example. My father, Glade Sorensen, taught at Cedar High School for 35 years and my mother, Sherie, served in cub scouts for four decades. Their influence on yesterday's youth has had far reaching impact on so many lives in Cedar City and beyond, but particularly mine. Now it is my turn to make a difference and help shape our tomorrow.
Iron County needs good leadership, and that's what you will get when I am elected -- someone who has experience in both the private and government sectors, who will go the extra mile to spearhead cost saving initiatives, that understands governmental accounting, who will listen then act, and utilize the core of our communities in a collective effort.
My primary focus when elected will be to ensure fiscal responsibility and tranparency at all levels of County government and improve communications with constituents and employees giving Iron County a choice and a voice -- government by the people and for the people.
Now more than ever we need to stand together and implement change to ensure the protection of our God-given rights of life, liberty, property, and the pursuit of happiness. Citizens' needs are best met through private initative and volunteerism. It was this same pioneering fortitude upon which Iron County was settled. My children's great-great grandfather, David Dunn Bulloch, was a member of that first company and actually had the distinction of being the first pioneer child on the site of Cedar City at the age of seven. Having boys of my own around that same age, I want to instill in them these same principles and ensure that they honor our heritage.
Once we can come together and work towards common goals, we will find resolution to the issues of prairie dogs, water renewable energy and economic development pursuits while maintaining our "home town" values.
Because of my desire for transparent government, I will ensure that our citizens are kept apprised of what is going on by utilizing today's modern technologies and social media avenues. As a current county employee, I am of the opinion that our website needs to be more user friendly and enhanced with links to all agendas and minutes, budgets and audit reports, etc.
We can also form community task forces that can serve as liaisons with the County and their neighborhoods. By working together and re-estbalishing community unity, there should be no excuse why citizens are not informed, unless by their own choosing.
Being forthright and informative will create a better sense of trust. My belief in being proactive, having established office hours, and getting to know our citizens and employees is important to me once elected. By setting the example of excellent customer service at a Commission level, nothing less should be expected from the other county departments.
Please feel free to contact me should you have any questions or concerns prior to going to the polls. I commit to you that what you see is what you'll get by casting your vote for me on June 22 -- Suzette Sorensen Bulloch -- YOUR choice for Iron County Commissioner.

I finally did it. I've gone virtual! I can really see the potential that exists about spreading the word about my current campaign for Iron County Commissioner via the FB network. Your help in this regard would be very much appreciated. Check out my page and become my FB friend.
With my friends sharing election information with their friends, and so on and so on, we're bound to make a difference. It's hard to believe that Primary Election is now less than three weeks away - Tuesday, June 22, 2010, to be exact.
Early voting begins on Tuesday, June 8, 2010, at the Iron County Courthouse, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The additional voting dates and/or places are listed on the "Don't Forget to Vote" flyer that you will also see here on the blog. This reminder of the upcoming Republican Primary Election was also in today's issue of Iron County Today. Hopefully that will get some people's attention.
I also have 1/4 sheets which I plan to use over the next couple weeks going door to door, and car to car, etc. with help from neighbors and friends, to reinforce the fact that it's not the November election that's important, rather it's this Republican Primary Election in June that really counts since, minus any write-ins, the only opposition for the fall ballot is coming from a member of the Constitutional party.
Remember to Vote Suzette Sorensen Bulloch, your choice for Iron County Commissioner.
